FABIO ARFINENGO
...Musician, Guitarist, Composer...
BIO
Having grown up with “Queen” and “Iron Maiden” I discovered the classical guitar during my search for the right guitar teacher. One day, I heard a piece by J. S. Bach on the guitar and was overwhelmed. I immediately decided to start my musical journey with the classical guitar.
I studied the classical guitar with Frédéric Zigante at the Conservatory G. Verdi in Turin. Thereafter I attended various Masterclasses, among them a one-year course at the Koblenz International Guitar Festival & Academy in Germany and another one-year course at the Conservatory D. Cimarosa in Avellino, Italy, with Aniello Desiderio. At the moment I teach classical, acoustic and electric guitar in the music schools of Frick and Region Laufenburg.
After diving deep into classical music, I felt that the means of expression through the classical guitar just were not enough for me. I ventured out in search of a new instrumentation to discover new possibilities. I found the electric guitar combined with nylon strings - this allowed me to merge the classic techniques (fingers instead of plectrum) with electronic pedals and enlarge my sound atlas.
I started new compositions and in the fruits of this work, you will find elements of flamenco, rock, electronic, and, of course, classical music.
